Board! not Bored

As directors, Tim and I are deeply appreciative of the Maasai School 121 Advisory Board. The members’ combined talents, years of experience, wisdom, heart …well… who can assign a value to these things? On top of all this, we just plain like them. They’re fun. We give a rousing cheer for Nancy and Ed Giddens who recently joined the Board. The Giddens have lived in Tanzania for 28+ years. Nancy teaches Theology and Ed teaches music at Mt. Meru University and its branch campuses. Among their many gifts are the ability to make people from various corners of the world feel welcome in their home, to speak fluent Swahili, and to serve up a real Thanksgiving dinner in the heart of Subsaharan Africa. Recently Nancy quoted a professor of a sustainable development course “History has shown that it doesn’t work for Western nations to just throw money at developing nations.” Right. Pole, pole. (Swahili for slowly, slowly or step by step.)
