Geo-what?

Drilling a well…not something we do everyday. So we’re talking to the people who do. Take dinner Sunday evening, for example, when my second cousin, a geophysicist, drew out a diagram for me on one side of a napkin. Seismic refraction. A good way to have a very good idea of where the water is deep underground. You know how a good carpenter can tap on the wall and tell where the studs are by the sound of it? Same idea…sort of…with very loud pounding and extra sensitive “ears”. At every turn we’re getting an education, and after living in E. Africa, we have a greater appreciation for just how valuable that is. Thanks, cousin.
